Yesterday was the first Saturday of Souls, sponsored by the Ladies Philoptochos. There will be 2 more Saturday of Souls, on Saturday, Feb. 25th and Saturday, March 3rd. If you would like to remember your loved ones at these services, please see Efterpy Velezis or Elias Papoutsis as soon as possible.
The National Philoptochos has issued an immediate appeal to all Philoptochos presidents, members nationwide and their respective communities to support a drive for the welfare of the people of Greece. Philoptochos Sisters are urged to unite in love to help those in need. Immediate aid is imperative and Chapters are asked to contribute generously to this unique appeal for the welfare of our fellow Greek Orthodox Hellenes. Donations marked "Welfare of the People of Greece" may be sent to: National Philoptochos, 7 West 55th Street, New York, NY 10019. The Godparent Sunday Luncheon, sponsored by the Daughters of Penelope, will be held on Sunday, February 26th after Church. Chicken - $13 per person (prepaid), $18 at the door; pasta - $5 per person. Please make your prepaid reservations with one of the Daughters of Penelope during Coffee Hour.
Today - Sunday, Feb. 19th - is the last day to receive the prepaid price of $13 per person - after today, it will be $18 per person for chicken. The Daughters will also sponsor a Bake Sale on that day in the atrium. Proceeds will help benefit the Daughters of Penelope Scholarship Fund.
Sunday of Orthodoxy will be celebrated on Sunday, March 4th with vespers at 4:00pm at St. Mary's (The Nativity of the Holy Virgin Mary) Orthodox Church, 3125 N. Main Street in Waterbury. If any parishioners need a ride, please see Paul Velezis or call the Church office as the Church van may be used to transport any parishioners needed.
GOYA has begun collecting donations for Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
